The Banished Luna
🔞😱“It was me-I stole your wolf, your everything.”
Alona whispered before I died.
But pain didn’t take me for good.
I opened my eyes again.
The Moon Goddess gave me a second chance.
I returned to the moment before Alona poisoned me.
This time, I stole the necklace that sealed her wolf.
Now, the real game begins.
Chapter 1 Reborn
Old Alpha Darius Campbell slapped his daughter Dalila Campbell hard across the face, snapping, "Today is your succession ceremony as Luna of the Red Diamond Pack. Why did you refuse to attend?"
The force of his blow sent Dalila crashing to the ground. Her head slammed against the corner of the table, and she blacked out from the intense pain.
Assuming she was faking it, Darius kicked her hard, cursing, "Stop pretending! It won't change anything. This is the family's decision. Alona is getting engaged to a member of the Lycan royalty, and you must marry the Alpha of the Red Diamond Pack."
Pain throbbed through Dalila's skull.
It finally dawned on her that she had been reborn.
In her past life, she'd been the only girl in the pack who failed to awaken her wolf at eighteen. So she had no choice but to marry the dying Alpha of the Red Diamond Pack, Royston Bishop. The next day, she was told that Royston had rebelled against the Lycan royalty. As Royston's mate, she was exiled to the north together with the Bishops.
The Campbells, on the other hand, cut all ties with her, fearing that she might implicate them.
Life was tough during exile, but the Bishops were so nice to her. But instead of appreciating it, she treated them horribly.
When the Campbell family finally took her back, she thought everything was getting better. Yet her stepsister, Alona Campbell, killed her with a glass of wolfsbane-laced wine.
The Moon Goddess took Dalila's soul in, and she wandered in the world for ten years. She witnessed Elijah Bishop, Royston's younger brother, usurp the throne and become the Lycan King. Oddly, this sworn enemy of hers built her a tomb after the war.

A splash of cold water jolted Dalila awake. She slowly stood up, wrapping her arms across her frail body. "I can marry Alpha Royston. But I want the amber Grandma left me back."
She remembered what Alona had said before she poisoned her—the amber held a drop of blood from the Moon Goddess's wolf. It possessed special power, and one single drop of blood could awaken it.
Alona stroked the amber necklace around her neck, smirking. "Dad gave this to me as my birthday gift. Why would I let you have it?"
Darius snorted, "Seriously? You wanna snatch your sister's stuff? What a disgrace!" Then he stormed off.
On the couch, Evelyn Quinn, Dalila's stepmother, said with eyes full of contempt, "Forget about the amber. I got you a gift for you and Alpha Royston's wedding."
Alona echoed with a smile, "What a pity—your groom is dying. Dalila, you better cherish the days with him, as you'll be a widow soon enough."
Dalila remained silent, just coldly staring at Evelyn.
Evelyn used to be her mother's maid, but then she stole her husband.
Dalila's mother had been the daughter of the former Lycan King.
Threatened by her existence, the current Lycan King, only a distant relative of the late king, hinted to Darius several times to confine her to the pack, stopping her from leaving.
Then her ruthless father colluded with Evelyn and poisoned her mother to death.
By the time Dalila learned the truth, it was already too late for revenge. Now that she had been reborn, she felt it necessary to teach Alona and Evelyn a lesson today.
With that thought, she grabbed the amber necklace around Alona's neck and yanked it off with her left hand, her right hand smacking Alona across the face.
Alona collapsed, smacking into a stool and knocking out two front teeth. Blood pooled on the floor.
"My teeth! My teeth!" Alona wailed.
Seeing her baby girl hurt, Evelyn lunged at Dalila, her face twisted in fury. "You bitch! I'm gonna make you pay!"
Dalila swiftly dodged away from Evelyn's hands and kicked her in the stomach.
Evelyn grimaced and clutched her abdomen, too painful to make a sound.
Then Dalila stepped forward, grabbed Evelyn's hair, and gave her a slap, too.
"Don't mess with me. If I die, Alona will have to marry Alpha Royston instead."
Evelyn froze, her eyes filled with terror. Dalila had always been meek—this cold, fierce woman before her felt like a stranger.
"You can't kill me," Evelyn stammered. "I'm your stepmother."
Dalila's lips curved into a cruel, cold smile. "You're set on ruining my life. Why shouldn't I drag you down with me?"
Alona pushed Dalila aside, helped Evelyn up, and ran out with her in a panic.
Dalila steadied herself against the table and put the amber necklace around her neck. In this life, she was willing to marry into the Red Diamond Pack. In her previous life, she had been exiled with the Bishop family, who had been nice to her out of guilt, taking care of her to the utmost, but she hadn't been grateful.
After arriving at the land of exile, famine struck, and Royston's mother and sister were starved to death to keep her fed.
Later, the Campbell family came to pick her up. She went home in glee, only to be killed by a spiked drink from Alona.
Elijah, Royston's younger brother, had always been at odds with her, but he was the one who collected her body and built her a tomb.
Being reborn, Dalila wanted to make things right and repay Royston's family by taking good care of them.
Just then, Eva Bacchus rushed in. With a worried look, she asked, "Ms. Campbell, are you OK?"
Tears welled in Dalila's eyes when she saw Eva, her loyal maid. In Dalila's past life, Eva had tried to send her money, but Alona accused her of theft and beat her to death. It was such a relief to see Eva safe and sound right now.
Suppressing her excitement, Dalila said, "Eva, let's switch clothes. I need to go out for a bit."
Eva, thinking Dalila planned to escape, quickly took her clothes off.
After switching clothes with Eva, Dalila changed her hairstyle and roared, "Get out!"
Then she ran out with her head dipped. The guards, mistaking her for Eva, let her pass.
In a quiet corner, Dalila bit her finger and let her blood drip onto the amber. Immediately, a low roar rang out in her mind, making her soul tremble.
She saw a snow-white wolf with a crescent moon mark on its forehead in her mind.
"You awakened me?" the wolf asked.
She nodded, a bit scared.
"Call me 'Snow'. I used to be the Moon Goddess's wolf, but now, I'm yours." The wolf's voice was calm and gentle. "I know what you've been through. This time, I'm with you. I promise everything will be different."
With a flick of her claw, Snow opened a rift.
She led Dalila through the rift. Soon, Dalila saw a grand, unfamiliar villa—the Moon Goddess's previous dwelling, aka the Magic Space.
"It's true..." Dalila whispered in awe.
In her past life, Evelyn had said one could reach there after awakening the wolf in the amber.
She took a deep breath to calm down. After leaving the Magic Space, she headed straight to the storage room.
No one was guarding the doors, and Darius and Evelyn each had a key to the lock.
She looked around and found a rock; then she used it to smash the lock.
The guards of the packhouse were all patrolling now, so no one heard her.
Her gaze turned sharp—everything she touched here would go straight into the Magic Space. She didn't care where they'd end up in there, but she wasn't leaving anything behind.
Before she left, she even took the lock and chain on the ground—she could sell them for money, even though not much.
This was the main storage room. Her next stop was the separate storage rooms of Darius, Evelyn, and Alona.
She found that after taking away the stuff in the storage room, her body became lighter as if being injected with some mysterious power. She could even leap onto walls about three meters high with ease.
After reaching Evelyn's storage room, she smashed the lock on the door and started ransacking the place, grabbing anything in sight.
Chuckling, she thought, "Evelyn, you went all out to seize my mom's belongings. But you know what? They aren't yours and will never be."
After that, she went to Alona's storage room. Taking a glance inside, she gritted her teeth in anger—all the belongings her mother left her were here.
The treasures and money sent by Red Diamond Pack to welcome her were also placed here in an orderly manner.
She scoffed, thinking, "Alona, you stole my fiancé and my mom's legacy. This time, I swear I'm gonna take back everything that's mine."
She took all the things in the storage room away and saved them in the Magic Space, not forgetting the chain and lock as well, leaving Alona and Evelyn with nothing.
Upon standing in front of Darius's private storage room, she realized the door was actually made of iron. After she smashed the lock, it took her a lot of effort to push the door open.
There were a lot of jewels inside and a bookshelf filled with letters.
She flipped through them, only to stumble upon a big secret.
Chapter 2 Break Off the Engagement
The letters were all written by Devon Lynch, the Beta of the Red Diamond Pack, to Darius.
Royston, the Alpha of the Red Diamond Pack, had been out all this time to crush rebellion among the fractious packs per the Lycan King's order. To show their loyalty, many packs had handed in countless beautiful she-wolves, treasures, and weapons. However, with Darius's help, Devon had stashed them, not delivering any of them to the Lycan King.
Darius was after precious treasures and beauties, whereas Devon had been secretly building his own army.
The poor Royston was framed and became their scapegoat.
In Dalila's past life, the Lycan King punished Royston and his family by having them exiled right after she married into the Red Diamond Pack.
Taking a deep breath, Dalila calmed herself down. She knew she couldn't stay here any longer. Putting away all the letters, she headed to the door. When leaving, she traced the outline of the door, feeling a bit reluctant.
"It's such a huge iron door—I'm sure it can be reforged into so many weapons. Gosh, I can even sell it for a lot of money. How should I put it away?"
In the next second, the door vanished.
Her eyes lit up, and she touched the other door to put it away as well.
Back then, Darius had just been an ordinary werewolf. Dalila's mother had used her family's wealth to help him expand his connections, and finally, he became the Alpha.
So, everything here belonged to Dalila's mother. Dalila couldn't take buildings away; otherwise, she wouldn't leave a floor tile for Darius.
Then it suddenly occurred to her that Royston and his family would be exiled to the north tomorrow; it'd take them almost half a year before arriving at the land of exile, and they needed ample food.
She went to the kitchen and grabbed all the food, plates, and cutlery in sight.
Then she came back to her room contentedly. Upon seeing her, Eva widened her eyes. "Ms. Campbell? Why are you back?"
Dalila smiled, "Pack your stuff. We're leaving."
"What?" Eva's eyes were instantly filled with tears; she was so moved, thinking Dalila couldn't bear to leave her behind and came back especially to take her away.
Dalila didn't say much. It'd be too late to go to Red Diamond Pack tomorrow after dawn.
She must go and see Royston before that. In her past life, he had died out of anger the moment he received the Lycan King's order to exile him.
After packing up, Dalila left through a doghole with Eva following her.
They headed to the Red Diamond Pack quickly. Upon arriving at the packhouse, Dalila knocked on the door.
"Hello? Is there anyone inside? We're the maids of the Campbell family."
A few seconds later, the door was opened. A good-looking young man with thick eyebrows and sharp eyes walked out, exuding an air of nobility and coldness.
He questioned coldly, "Why are you here? Is the Campbell family having second thoughts about the marriage?"
Dalila was surprised to see Elijah open the door. Honestly, he was strikingly handsome, but his chillingly indifferent aura always scared his admirers away.
Dalila was actually a bit terrified of him, too. However, the feeling quickly vanished, and she felt warmth because even though it seemed he had always looked down on her, in her past life, he had been the one who retrieved her corpse and avenged her.
She bowed and said, "Ms. Campbell doesn't want to break off the marriage. She just needs to say something to Alpha Royston because she doesn't want to see him regret after she marries him."
Elijah frowned. "It better not be something harsh. Come in."
Dalila stuck out her tongue, thinking, "Yep, he's still the same—as cold as always."
Noticing Eva was trembling when walking, she was amused; Eva was even more timid than her.
But the timid Eva had risked her life just to bring Dalila money and ended up dead in Dalila's past life.
Dalila's nose stung as she grabbed Eva's hand.
Eva looked up at her and smiled sweetly, no longer trembling.
They followed Elijah to Royston's room; before entering, they heard Royston's coughing, sounding as rasping and rough as broken bellows.
Dalila sighed inwardly, thinking, "Well, at least he's still awake."
Elijah entered the door. "Royston, the Campbell family's maids are here to deliver a few words from Ms. Campbell. Are you interested?
"If not, I'll have them kicked out at once."
Dalila shot him a sideways glance, finding him so annoying. She bet he could never find a wife—not a single she-wolf in this world could stand him.
Royston said feebly, "Let them in... I'm guilty toward Dalila..."
Dalila entered the room and walked to his bed.
Royston wasn't as handsome as Elijah, but at first glance, anyone could tell from his thick eyebrows and bright eyes that he was a standup guy. It was such a shame that he was utterly weak now.
Dalila sighed, feeling sorry for him. He was the hero who had protected the entire werewolf race, but his family ended up being exiled because he was framed.
She cut to the chase, saying straightforwardly, "Alpha Royston, I'm Dalila, your fiancée."
Stunned, Royston looked up and studied her face, his eyes filled with guilt. Coughing, he said, "I'm sorry..."
She shook her head. "Alpha Royston, I'm willing to marry you and be your Luna. But things are a bit complicated, and I need to talk to you."
He nodded. "Go ahead. If you need my help, let me know."
Trying his best not to cough, he looked at her intently, waiting.
She pursed her lips and said with a bitter smile, "I learned from my father that someone framed you for embezzlement and seizing other packs' tribute for your own interest. The Lycan King will exile the entire Bishop family tomorrow. Alpha Royston, do you have any plans?"
Elijah frowned, gripped her by the neck, and snapped, "What the heck are you talking about? Our family and the entire Red Diamond Pack have been loyal to the Lycan King. Embezzlement? Royston? How's that even possible?"
Dalila was suffocating. She tried hard to pry his fingers, leaving scratches with blood on his hands.
Royston ordered, his voice deep, "Let go of her."
Elijah shoved her away, and she stumbled and slumped onto the bed, only to find that Royston's legs were twisted.
Finding it hard to believe, she pressed the blanket. The bones in Royston's legs had all been shattered, and without a doctor's help, his legs were twisted at an unnatural angle. If it were others, they would have cried out in pain, but he endured without complaining a word.
Dalila sniffed and said, her voice trembling, "Alpha Royston... The current Lycan King doesn't trust you. You should make plans as soon as possible."
Royston looked at her intently, his gaze utterly calm. It seemed he had already known everything.
"I see, Ms. Campbell. Thank you for telling me. Don't worry; I'll break off the engagement right now," he said.
She stood up at once and shook her head. "No. I won't go back tonight. From now on, I'll be part of the Red Diamond Pack. Rest assured. I'll take care of you, Ryleigh, Mia, and Angela."
Ryleigh Clark was Royston's grandmother, Mia Lindsey was his mother, and Angela Bishop was his younger sister. Hearing Dalila's words, Royston was stunned, and Elijah looked at her, his gaze skeptical and scrutinizing.
She smiled bitterly, "To seize my mother's legacy, my father won't let me live. Instead of being plotted against by my family, I might as well marry over. At least you won't harm me."
Both Royston and Elijah fell silent. They knew if Darius had really loved her, he wouldn't have let her marry Royston, who was a dying man.
In the end, Royston's coughing broke the silence. He steadied his breath and took out a black iron ring.
His pale palm stood in stark contrast against it.
At the sight of the ring, Dalila was shocked because she recognized it was the token of his personal guards; they obeyed without question, slaughtering at the bearer's command regardless of who possessed the ring.
Was he testing her, trying to find out whether she was here to snatch the ring? In her past life, countless assassins had targeted him for this ring.
When she had been taken hostage, it was Elijah who had exchanged the ring for her life.
Chapter 3 He's So Considerate
Royston said gently, "This is yours now. From now on, you'll be my wife, the Red Diamond Pack's Luna. All the werewolves in the pack will trust you and respect you."
Dalila pursed her lips, realizing she'd have to take care of both the Bishop family and the entire Red Diamond Pack. She reached out and put the ring on the middle finger of her left hand, regardless of whether Royston was testing her or not.
Then she said solemnly, "I, Dalila Campbell, swear that I'll protect everyone in the Red Diamond Pack who respects me with my life. The others shall receive punishment from the Moon Goddess."
Royston keenly caught her implication, but he just smiled, "You can kill those who disrespect you if that's what you want. You don't have to worry about anything else."
Being seen through, Dalila blushed, thinking, "He's so considerate. If he can make it, who's to say he won't be a good husband?"
Elijah stared at the black ring for a long time, but he didn't say anything.
Then Royston said to him, "Elijah, get a room ready for Luna Dalila."
Dalila didn't have any objections. With a room to herself, she could come and go more freely at night.
Elijah said coldly, "Come with me. You'll live in the side room next door."
After glancing at Royston, Dalila followed Elijah away.
A few moments later, Elijah came back and frowned. "Royston, why did you give her the ring?"
Royston smiled helplessly, "If she's here per her father's order for the ring, I might as well give it to her. It may spare the rest of our family."
Clenching his fists, Elijah said, feeling both indignant and reluctant, "The Lycan King is cruel and incompetent. Royston, you shouldn't have come back from the battlefield in the first place."
Royston shook his head. "If I hadn't come back, the Red Diamond Pack would have been ruined. If Dalila wants to sneak away with the ring, let her."
A murderous glint flashed across Elijah's eyes, but he still agreed anyway, "OK."
Royston leaned against the pillow weakly. "But if she genuinely wants to stay, I hope you can respect her and protect her."
Elijah scoffed, "Don't you know who her father is? I have no trust in him at all. I bet she didn't come here voluntarily. She will run away with the ring at night."
Royston closed his eyes and said nothing; in fact, he was skeptical, too, but there was nothing he could do.
Elijah left the room in silence. The sky was already dark, so he hid in a tree to keep an eye on Dalila's every move.
Right now, Dalila was saying to Eva, "Eva, this is your ID. You should leave."
Eva said with tears in her eyes, "I'm not leaving, Luna Dalila. I heard your conversation with Alpha Royston. I don't care. I'll come with you even if you get exiled, too."
Dalila frowned, pretending to be angry. "How am I supposed to take you with me? Once you tag along, you'll be seen as guilty, too. Besides, I'll have to take care of the Bishop family, and you'll be nothing but a deadweight to me. But if you leave, at least you still have your freedom."
Seeing how determined Dalila was, Eva took her ID, stood up, and said, "Then I'm leaving. Take care, Luna Dalila."
Dalila turned around. "Go. I don't wanna see your face ever again."
Eva dropped her head and then walked out without hesitation.
Dalila sighed inwardly, hoping that in this life, Eva could live happily till the end.
She couldn't afford to be sentimental right now. Lying in bed, she rested till midnight and then got up, ready to act.
Little did she know that she was being followed this whole time.
Following her, Elijah was puzzled, thinking, "Is she stealing? Why did she break the lock to break into the storage room? If she wants secrets, shouldn't she head for the study?"
Dalila didn't notice Elijah at all. She walked into the storage room, put everything there into the Magic Space, and sighed on her way out.
"I can't believe how poor the Red Diamond Pack is. Well, it'll be a cold journey, and we're gonna need everything—including every scrap of linen and wool."
After Dalila left the storage room, Elijah entered it, only to be startled at what he saw—the storage room, once stocked with all kinds of things such as bolts of cloth, was actually empty.
However, Elijah was never timid. He immediately followed Dalila again.
Finally, he saw clearly in the firewood shed; everything touched by her was gone.
He even heard her murmurs. "We're gonna need firewood and charcoal as well. Ryleigh's weak, and Angela has stomach issues. I gotta keep everyone warm during the journey. I just hope they can hold on until we reach the north.
"Too bad I can't enter the Royal Lycan Court. Or I'll empty the Lycan King's treasury."
Elijah, outside the firewood shed, was shocked, but he couldn't help but nod. He agreed with her—the wealth in the treasury was essentially the tributes of all the packs, and the Lycan King simply wasn't worthy of having them.
Just then, an idea hit him. He entered the kitchen not far away, grabbed two slices of bread, and ate while saying, deliberately raising his voice, "I bet there are spies in the Royal Lycan Court. I'll go there to find out who's been scheming against us!"
In the firewood shed, Dalila blinked. After a moment of hesitation, she walked out and asked, "Elijah, is the kitchen this way? I can't find a maid to cook for me, and I'm hungry."
With a straight face, he gave her a slice of bread. "Because we don't have any. We can't afford to. I'm heading out."
She bit the bread, savoring it. "I heard you said you were going to the Court. Can you take me with you? I know where the proof clearing Alpha Royston's name is."
Elijah didn't buy it at all. However, instead of raising any doubts, he simply asked solemnly, "Really?"
She nodded. "Yes. But I've got to change into men's wear."
He nodded, too. "Come with me."
She was genuinely surprised—he agreed so easily?
Then she came with him to his room and changed into an old set of his clothes, and they left the Red Diamond Pack.
Elijah shifted into his wolf form and ran for a bit, only to realize she wouldn't be able to catch up with him since she didn't have a wolf. However, as he turned around, he saw her right behind him.
Though surprised, he didn't dwell on it. They snuck into the Royal Lycan Court smoothly.
Dalila handed him a pile of letters. "Put this on the desk in the Lycan King's study. It proves Alpha Darius has been taking bribes and is enough to make him suffer."
Taking the letters over, Elijah flipped through them and was seething with rage. "Alpha Darius is so greedy..."
He said this while looking up, only to see that Dalila was gone.
"What's the deal with her?" he couldn't help but wonder.
Meanwhile, Dalila had arrived at the Lycan King's secret vault thanks to the secrets she had heard in her past life.
Due to the Lycan King's poor management, the current werewolf world was in chaos. Alpha Royston from the Red Diamond Pack used to be a formidable existence in the eyes of witches and vampires, but now, he was seriously injured and crippled. The werewolf world would be facing a great crisis.
For his own pleasure, the Lycan King had moved the treasury into his hidden vault, not even daring to have any guards.
Also, he was extremely cowardly, keeping all the guards in the Court to protect him in the main hall. That was why Dalila could move around here without anyone blocking her way.
She quickly darted into the rockery complex, found the hidden mechanism, activated the secret passage, and entered the hidden vault.
It was big, and there were luminescent stones engraved on the steps, so she could see everything clearly.
Upon walking to the innermost corner, she saw countless shelves with trays. On each tray were jewels, shining brightly and making one feel they were in a world of gold.
Obviously, the treasures were of immeasurable value. However, the Lycan King wouldn't even buy food for his warriors.
"Damn you, Lycan King."
Dalila cursed under her breath and then quickly began to take the treasures away. After emptying the vault, she used a dagger she took from home to carve out the luminescent stones embedded in the walls and steps.
Chapter 4 His Gentleness
Dalila carved the luminescent stones with brutal force, not giving a damn about whether she might ruin them or not—her sole goal was to take every one of them away.
After leaving the vault, she was still bugged, thinking, "It's all the Lycan King's fault. In my past life, the Red Diamond Pack was ruined, and the Bishop family was wiped out. It all happened because of him."
While she was seriously thinking about the possibility of killing the Lycan King, Elijah showed up out of nowhere.
Without saying a word, he carried her on his shoulder and started to run, as quick and agile as a leopard chasing its prey.
In the next second, patrolling guards showed up. Luckily, Dalila and Elijah left in time and weren't caught.
With Dalila on his shoulder, Elijah left the Royal Lycan Court swiftly, which made her wonder if he had snuck in here a lot.
Then he put her on the ground. She pursed her lips and had a lot of questions she wanted to ask, but she didn't know where to start.
Elijah looked calm and as cold as ever. Facing his expression, Dalila fell silent.
Just then, the guards patrolling the streets walked in their direction in lines. He grabbed her by the arm, and they hid behind a dumpster in the corner.
Being dragged by him, Dalila was caught off guard, and her nose crashed into his chest; she was in so much pain that her eyes were watery, and she thought, "I might as well crash into a wall!"
Looking up, she glared at Elijah, but then he pinned her down, and she was forced to crouch on the ground.
She started to claw at the wall to vent her anger. Just then, she thought of something.
Her ex-fiancé, Miles McKinney, had broken off their engagement and married Alona in her past life. Of course, she wouldn't let him off.
After the guards walked away, Dalila, filled with hatred, stood up and ran.
Elijah didn't dare to call out and could only follow her closely.
Dalila didn't stop until she reached Miles's place. He was rich, and she snatched a lot of valuable things away successfully.
She flipped over the wall and found the storage room based on her memory. However, his place was heavily guarded, and she couldn't enter by smashing the lock.
After pondering for a while, she went onto the roof, pried off some tiles, and dived down.
Elijah, in the distance, was very helpless, thinking, "What exactly is the deal with Dalila? Is she a thief or what?
"Wait... I heard Miles used to be Dalila's fiancĂ©, and he was engaged to Alona right after canceling their engagement. What a jerk—he deserves to be ripped off."
At this, he snuck into the storage rooms of the others around here and didn't forget to put away the locks and the iron chains, saving Dalila the trouble of going onto the roofs again.
At the same time, Dalila had just finished looting the main storage room. When she came to the private storage rooms, she realized none of them were locked. Though baffled, she didn't dwell on it.
She went into the storage rooms and started to ransack them, taking anything valuable because time was limited.
After finishing looting, she blinked and darted into Miles's bedroom.
Elijah, who was standing outside, pulled a long face. Gritting his teeth, he muttered, "Dalila, are you gonna sleep with Miles because you still have feelings for him and think Royston can't satisfy your needs?"
Dalila, who was in the bedroom, suddenly felt a chill down her spine. She rubbed her nose to stop herself from sneezing and started to take the things here away.
Standing in front of the closet, she directly took it away, including all the garments inside.
Then she reached for the bed curtains, wanting to yank them off. It was of fine quality and would surely be useful during exile.
Just as she grabbed the gauze, someone behind her carried her on his shoulder with great force.
She clutched the bed curtains, refusing to let go. As a result, the canopy went down and smashed the person in bed. He cried out in pain miserably.
Dalila held onto the bed curtains as Elijah carried her on his shoulder.
As they vaulted over the wall, someone shouted, "Ghosts!"
Gritting his teeth, Elijah dodged the patrols carefully.
Passing Darius's place, Dalila tossed a few pieces of jewels she had stolen from the Lycan King inside.
Once they were back at the Red Diamond Pack, Elijah tossed her into the side room and then closed the door.
Dalila's body rolled across the floor a few times. She huffed, "Elijah, you jerk! Wait and see—I'll make you suffer on the road of exile! I swear I won't give you any food."
While cursing, she packed up and finally ended up falling asleep out of exhaustion.
Early the next morning, nothing happened.
Dalila didn't take away the things here in the Red Diamond Pack. For one thing, there wasn't anything valuable; for another, she had to leave something for the confiscators who'd be here later. If they couldn't find anything, it'd make them look suspicious.
She came to the bedroom next door and saw Elijah feeding Royston. She said, "Let me. You should inform Ryleigh and Angela before the confiscators come, or they might be frightened."
Elijah nodded and handed over the food. "Thanks."
Dalila nodded, took the plate carefully, and started to feed Royston.
Royston no longer seemed that pale today. After eating, he asked, "Dalila, who exactly are you?"
Dalila smiled and picked up a slice of bread from the table, starting to eat. She said, "You're looking at her. Would you believe me if I said I had a dream in which the Lycan King was planning on exiling the Bishop family?"
Royston smiled, his always stern expression softened. Sure enough, a tough guy could be gentle, too.
He then took out an envelope, its mouth sealed with wax.
"Take this, Dalila. If anyone at the Red Diamond Pack puts you in a difficult spot one day, you can open this in front of them. It'll keep you safe."
Dalila felt a lump in her throat and couldn't swallow the bread no matter what.
Her eyes welled up with tears as she thought, "Royston's own safety is hanging by a thread, yet here he is, making sure I have a way out. Exactly how considerate is he?"
She grabbed a cup from the table and gulped down a big mouthful of tea, swallowing the bread as well as her tears.
Then she comforted him, "Don't get worked up when the Lycan King's order arrived. We'll leave together. Don't worry—I swear I'll keep you safe on the road."
Royston was surprised. She looked delicate and harmless, yet her soul was actually so tough.
He said softly, "You won't be able to leave safely unless I'm dead."
Dalila was sad and angry upon hearing his words. She questioned, "Then why did you agree to marry me? Just to drag me down together with your family?"
He shook his head. "It's the Lycan King's decision. The bride's family can be promoted."
Dalila was stunned, realizing she had always gotten Royston wrong. In her past life, she had resented him, for she had believed he didn't want to die unmarried.
Royston continued, "I've talked to Grandma and my mother about this. They'll treat you as family and arrange for you to marry someone else after things die down."
Clutching the slice of bread, Dalila lowered her head. "Don't we have any other options?"
He shook his head, smiling bitterly, "I'm afraid not."
Dalila tugged at his hand, trying to pull him into the Magic Space, but it didn't work. Only she could enter it.
Just then, loud noises rang out outside the room, mixed with the clang of weapons and the shouts of soldiers.
Royston and Dalila exchanged glances—it was happening.
Chapter 5 A Retard
Soon, Philip Presley, the Lycan King's Gamma, walked inside. "Alpha Royston, good schemes—your self-sacrificial ruse almost tricked everyone. Luckily, the Lycan King is smart enough.
"You embezzled military funds, causing us to lose in the battles and the million deaths of soldiers. Then you stashed the spoils of war secretly for your own gain. The Lycan King is furious and has ordered me to search the Red Diamond Pack. Also, the Bishop family will be exiled to the north."
Furious, Royston slammed the bed and roared, "That's slandering! I've never done such things..."
He stared at Dalila's pretty face and spat a mouthful of blood onto it. Only by smudging it could he keep her safe.
Feeling his warm blood on her face, Dalila raised her hand and smeared the blood across her entire face.
Then Royston convulsed a few times before passing out.
"Alpha Royston!"
Dalila snapped out of it and threw herself onto him, crying out loud.
It had been two days since her reborn, and she had been enduring her grievances. Right now, she vented it all out, crying heart-wrenchingly.
If Royston was dead, there was no point in being reborn.
Immediately, she started to perform CPR on him. Soon, his face was no longer bloodless, and his chest heaved slightly.
Philip thought he was dead and said, "Alpha Royston knew he was guilty and has died vomiting blood to atone for his sins.
"Take the she-wolves to the front courtyard. They're not allowed to take anything of value and will be exiled to the north after being shackled."
He looked at Royston and wanted to be sure that Royston was really dead.
Seeing this, Dalila stepped forward and bowed. "Gamma Philip, if an exiled convict dies at home, the executioner will be seen as an accomplice silencing them. Surely, you don't want to be implicated. Could you grant me a request?"
Philip took back his hands, overwhelmed by a lingering fear. She was right—Royston couldn't die at home.
Squinting, he asked, "What is it?"
Dalila knew she couldn't push her luck. "Only the weak and the old of the Bishop family are left now. Could they be spared of shackles?"
Philip snorted, "All the she-wolves must be fitted with ankle shackles. No exceptions are allowed. Now, get out and get ready for the road."
Dalila secretly breathed a sigh of relief, knowing Philip had agreed. In her past life, she had been wearing shackles and had to pay to be freed only until they reached another pack.
She wrapped Royston with bedsheets, tore off the bed curtains to fashion a rope, and then tied him to her back.
Being reborn, she was super strong. Otherwise, she wouldn't have pulled it off at all. As she walked forward with him on her back, she looked almost like a cooked shrimp.
There were only a handful of people in the courtyard. The servants had all left; no one wanted to perish with the Bishop family.
Mia was standing in the courtyard.
Upon seeing Dalila with Royston on her back, Mia was moved, thinking, "How did Dalila manage to do this? She seems with immense strength."
Dalila stuck to Royston's side till this point, and her loyalty touched Mia deeply. Mia asked, her voice trembling, "How's Royston?"
Dalila nodded, looking at her. "He's hanging in there."
Mia froze, realizing Royston could die at any second.
She bit her lip hard to stop herself from crying, holding a girl about five years old tightly in her arms.
The girl was pretty and delicate, her big, round eyes filled with tears. But she stubbornly refused to cry—she was a Bishop indeed.
Dalila ruffled the girl's hair affectionately, knowing it was Angela. Her family usually called her by her nickname, Angel.
Looking around, Dalila didn't see Elijah and thought, "Did he run away?"
Just then, two soldiers dragged Elijah, who was covered in blood, to the courtyard and tossed him onto the ground.
Elijah was motionless, and the big, round wound on his forehead caught everyone's eye. Clearly, a soldier had hit him with the hilt of a blade.
In Dalila's past life, she had read medical books when she had no better things to do, and her medical skills were as good as those of the doctors from the Royal Lycan Court.
Mia couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears, but she didn't make any sound.
Dalila comforted her, "Elijah's life isn't in danger. Don't worry."
Mia nodded, the stubbornness and pride in her charming eyes palpable. She was the mother of Alpha Royston, the previous Luna, and she'd never disgrace the Red Diamond Pack.
Philip ordered the doctor from the Royal Lycan Court, "Check on Elijah. Make sure he's not dead."
The doctor nodded. "Yes, Gamma Philip."
Then the doctor pried open Elijah's eyelid and checked on Elijah, saying, "He's been hit in the head hard; I'm afraid he's gonna be a retard."
Elijah cried out in pain and shoved him aside. "You old git! Keep your hands off me!"
The doctor feigned fury and snapped, "Sure enough, he's lost his mind! He can't recognize me anymore!" Meanwhile, he quickly wrote something on Elijah's palm.
Elijah froze for a second before slumping to the ground, crying miserably. "Mom! Mom! Where are you, Mom? I'm being bullied by an old git..."
Everyone was stunned.
Frowning, Philip asked, "What's going on?"
The doctor answered, "Because of the hit, his intelligence now is no different from that of a five-year-old."
Philip nodded, thinking, "Who cares? As long as he doesn't die here."
The doctor's eyes darkened for a bit before he continued, "Gamma Philip, they should leave as soon as possible. Now that Elijah is injured, the trip will be too much for him to take. Surely, you don't want him to die here."
Philip's eyes flickered as he realized the doctor was right. So, he said, "The Lycan King has ordered their immediate departure."
Listening to their conversation, Dalila recalled—in her past life, Elijah hadn't ended up being a retard, but traveling with his head injury had almost killed him.
Seeing Mia comforting Elijah, she held Angela's hand, saying softly, "Don't be afraid. I'll protect you."
Angela looked at her, forcing a smile.
Female guards frisked them at the gate. Fortunately, they merely touched their clothes without asking them to take their clothes off—the guards were suspiciously lax.
The five of them waited at the gate to be shackled. Just then, Dalila spotted Darius in the crowd, watching them with a smile on his face. It seemed he hadn't realized she had emptied his storage room.
An idea hit her, and she immediately threw herself at him, wailing. "Dad! Are you here to take me home, Dad?"
Darius, with an icy expression, tossed her a piece of paper. "You're now part of the Red Diamond Pack, Alpha Royston's Luna. From now on, I'm no longer your father."
Feigning devastation, Dalila picked up the severance letter and quickly glanced at it. Darius had stated that they'd stay strangers till the day of their deaths, and he wouldn't even let her visit his grave after he died.
She sneered, "Thanks."
How would Darius react once he knew his home had been emptied? No, that wasn't entirely right—he had the treasures stolen from the Royal Lycan Court. Would he be beheaded?
Either way, he'd end up miserably. With such a thought, Dalila felt great.
Mia asked her worriedly, "Dalila, are you OK?"
Dalila nodded. "Yes. Mia, don't worry about me. Take care of Ryleigh."
Upon arriving at the city gates, Dalila glanced back, swearing to bathe the city of sins in blood on her comeback.
Just then, she noticed that there were a lot of werewolves being exiled. Apparently, any residents here who had connections with the Red Diamond Pack had been exiled.
But they were luckier than Elijah and the others; at least they had their belongings with them.
An elderly man snorted, "Alpha Royston actually embezzled military funds? Serves him right."
Dalila looked up and retorted, "You're saying this as if you hadn't basked in his glory back then.
"I can't believe someone as old as you can be this ungrateful."
Mia echoed coldly, "Vito, in case you've forgotten, Royston risked his life in battles back then in exchange for the family's glory. Otherwise, you and your flock would have still been herding sheep in the village.
"It seems you're only with us for the good times. Mark my words—those who're willing to side with me, come and stand by me. And the rest? Just piss off."
Dalila looked up at Mia. In her past life, she had always thought of Mia as a delicate woman; yet now, she realized it was only because Mia had indulged her.
The others didn't move. Apparently, they wanted to distance themselves.
The escorting soldiers grew impatient and began to urge them to hit the road. The line, formed by over a hundred people, was very long, and the cries echoed through the sky.
As they reached a few kilometers outside the city, Dalila saw a canopied wagon ahead, and the driver sitting on the front bench was staring at them.
She found him familiar. Upon walking closer, she was stunned. "You?"
Chapter 6 A Family
It was actually Eva, who had already left. She smiled, saying to Dalila, "What is it, Dalila? After a couple of days, you've already forgotten me, your cousin?"
Dalila sized Eva up. "Gosh, who's this pretty boy I'm looking at?"
Eva said with a smug smile, "Dalila, I'm free now. You can't chase me away. No one can stop me from following the exiles.
"It's just that I didn't have time to buy stuff such as bedding. I guess I'll wait until we reach another pack."
Dalila felt a lump in her throat, thinking, "You silly girl, Eva. I told you to move on with your life, but you still chose to stick with me."
Eva smiled, "Let's go and get out of the Lycan King's turf as soon as possible so that you can sit on the wagon."
Dalila nodded. To be able to sit on the wagon, they had to leave far away from here and also bribe the escort officers.
Eva then urged the wagon forward to create a proper distance from Dalila and the others. The escort officers saw them but remained silent because this happened a lot; some families or friends of the exiles couldn't bear to see them suffer and would tag along to help.
In fact, the escort officers were happy to see Eva because it meant extra money.
Angela limped forward, but she bit her lip hard to stop herself from sobbing or complaining. Seeing this, Dalila felt a pang of pity for her.
Dalila crouched down and said softly, "Here. I'll carry you."
Angela shook her head vigorously. "No need, Dalila. It's already exhausting for you to carry Royston on your back. I'm fine."
Dalila sighed, thinking, "Angela is so sweet and strong. In my past life, I was so cold to her; I didn't even smile at her when she was sick and sought comfort from me.
"I'm glad that I've been given another chance. This time, I swear I'll be so nice to her."
She grabbed Angela's hand and picked Angela up with force.
"Don't worry, Angel. I'm strong enough."
With Royston on her back and Angela in her arms, she attracted a lot of people's attention. The scene seemed so unreal, yet it was real.
The place of exile was far away from the Lycan King's territory, and they had to cover fifteen to twenty-five kilometers a day, so the Lycan King allowed the she-wolves to wear ankle shackles only after they were out of town.
Mia was stunned. She had thought Dalila, the eldest daughter of the Campbell family, was a gentle, delicate one, yet Dalila turned out to be so tough.
Noticing the look on Mia's face, Dalila thought Mia disliked this side of her and said awkwardly, "Mia, I'm afraid having a lot of strength is my only strong suit."
But Mia didn't dislike her at all. With a worried look, Mia said, "The journey will take almost half a year. You didn't have to suffer with us.
"Let me take Angel. You've carried Royston for a long time already; you'll exhaust yourself."
Dalila smiled, "Mia, you saw it yourself—my father no longer wanted me. If you insist on chasing me away, I'll have no one to rely on. Don't worry. I've got immense strength. See? I'm not even panting with Royston on my back."
Mia looked at Dalila with distress in her eyes. "They say one's father becomes stepfather after he remarries. I guess it's true. Dalila, from now on, I'll be your mother. You won't be left starved with even just a mouthful of food left."
Dalila had the urge to cry. It had been years since she last felt such warmth.
In her past life, Mia and the others had always felt guilty toward her and had been nice to her. She had been stupid enough not to cherish their kindness.
Angela, in her arms, said firmly in a cute voice, "I'll also save all the food for you, Dalila."
Dalila chuckled. "Enough, you guys. No one will starve. I was born with strength. Don't worry about me."
Seeing that Dalila wasn't playing tough, Mia was relieved. Turning around, she saw Elijah, the "retard".
She said with a pained expression, "Elijah, don't cause any trouble. See how strong Dalila is? If you don't behave, I'll tell her to beat you up."
Elijah curled his lip, made a face at Dalila, and then hid behind Mia.
Seeing the childish Elijah, Dalila breathed a sigh of relief. With him being like this, no one would know she had broken into the Royal Lycan Court last night.
Even if Elijah told anyone, no one would believe him because he was just a retard.
The escort soldiers wouldn't allow them to chit-chat. They urged sternly, waving their spears, "Move!"
With Angela in her arms, Dalila walked next to Mia.
Meanwhile, Mia held Elijah's hand. None of them spoke again, tacitly saving their strength.
Only then did Dalila have time to think.
After being reborn, she had done a lot of things. It was a shame she couldn't be there to personally witness how Darius would be punished.
As for her, she was strong and flexible, which was probably the perk of the Magic Space. It was such a blessing. But until now, she hadn't had a chance to enter the Magic Space.
"Elijah." A female voice suddenly sounded.
They looked over and frowned.
It was Karen Hearst, Elijah's fiancée, and her cousin, Jason Hearst.
Karen had a pretty face, but she didn't look pleased right now. She stepped forward and said, "Mia, now that you've been exiled by the Lycan King, chances are, you won't be able to come back."
Mia looked at her coldly. "So?"
Karen stepped back, and Jason said, looking a bit embarrassed, "I'm sure you understand that Karen won't join us. So ... we were wondering if we could put the engagement off the table."
Instead of getting mad, Mia looked at Karen disappointedly. "Did your parents know about this?"
Jason nodded, answering on behalf of Karen, "Yes. But they were too ashamed to face you. Mia, this is the token Elijah gave Karen. He can have it back."
Mia took it, sneering.
"The Hearst family really has no shame at all."
Jason quickly pulled out a check for 15,000 dollars. "Please accept our compensation. Every gift the Bishop family has given Karen has been appraised and consolidated into this amount."
Mia asked mockingly, "Are you saying our gifts are worth 15,000 dollars only? We've never been wealthy, but we are never stingy either." Her gaze became sharp as she continued, "50,000 dollars."
Karen looked at her furiously. "15,000 dollars. Take it or leave it."
Unfazed, Mia said flatly, "Suit yourself. If I don't agree, you can't break off the engagement. Maybe the Lycan King will suddenly remember about this; we'll be waiting for you in the north."
Tears were brimming in Karen's eyes, but she was smart enough to remain silent, only looking at Jason pitifully.
Jason gritted his teeth. "Fine."
Mia hooked her finger. "I'm waiting."
"It's yours now." He pulled out another check and shoved it into Mia's hand without looking.
Apparently, he had already prepared 50,000 dollars but wanted to brush them off with 15,000 dollars.
Mia took the check and nodded. "Karen, you're free now."
Mia wasn't stupid and knew they'd be here to break off the engagement.
Jason and Karen then left decisively, not looking back at all.
Mia stood in place. She sighed, but only for less than a second, remaining tough and unyielding as always.
Dalila stared at her intently, realizing Mia was different from her past life; this Mia was tough.
Feeling Dalila's stare, Mia was puzzled. "Why are you looking at me like this?"
Dalila smiled awkwardly, "You're so tough, Mia. If it were anyone else, they would have probably cried their eyes out already."
Mia sighed, "Have you forgotten? Like Royston, my husband was an Alpha, too. I'm no ordinary she-wolf.
"Besides, we're here together as a family, right? That's the most important thing. Others don't matter."
Looking at the determined Mia, Dalila couldn't help but feel admiration.
In her past life, Mia must have put up with her because Mia had seen her as family.
Suddenly, a miserable cry rang out in the distance, catching everyone's attention.
After all, they had just begun their journey, and they still had energy for gossip.
