No Ring, Just Revenge
Two years ago, Katarina lost her memory and fell for the man who saved her life—Linwood.
She married him without hesitation.
But the first time he ever approached her willingly… was to ask for a divorce.
“You’ll get five million. That should be enough for the rest of your life.”
Because he had finally found the woman he’d been searching for—Amelia.
With a heart torn in two, Katarina signed the papers.
But this time, she wouldn’t beg.
She picked up the phone and made a call—to someone both familiar and distant.
It was time to reclaim who she really was:
The heiress of the richest family in Crovania.
The “darling” of Lamar Hubbard.
As she stepped into a diamond-studded Ferrari and drove away,
The game of love, betrayal, and revenge had only just begun.
Chapter 1 An Unattainable Love
"Let's get a divorce.
"You'll get 5 million dollars, enough to set you up for life.
"Sign the papers and leave. Now!"
In their two years of marriage, it was the first time Lynwood Beasley had come to Catalina Rowland of his own accord—only to ask for a divorce.
"Why, Lynwood?" Catalina asked, her voice trembling. "Did I do something wrong? I can—"
"I've found Emelia," Lynwood cut her off coldly.
Catalina froze. Emelia?
"But... Maritza said she was dead..."
"Shut up!" Lynwood snapped.
He would never let anyone speak ill of Emelia Hudson—the woman he loved.
Catalina pressed her lips together. His words cut deep, slicing through her like a knife, making her breathless.
She had always known Lynwood kept an unattainable love in his heart.
For the past few years, he had spared no effort looking for her worldwide.
He had even tattooed her name on his chest.
Lynwood loved Emelia to his very core, just like how much Catalina loved him.
"Lynwood, I don't want a divorce. Please don't divorce me, OK? I love you..."
Two years ago, Catalina had fallen off a cliff, and it was Lynwood who had saved her.
She had been injured, her memory gone. When she opened her eyes, he was the first person she saw.
She fell for him at that exact moment.
Lynwood's gaze was icy as he spoke, "I don't love you, Catalina."
Catalina's heart broke, tears streaming down her face.
No matter how hard she tried, he just couldn't love her back.
She knew Emelia had always been the only love of his life.
"Mr. Beasley, the helicopter is ready," Edwin Jenkins, Lynwood's assistant, reported as he rushed into the room.
After glancing at the divorce papers on the table, Lynwood ordered, "Sign it. You have two days to move out."
With that, he turned and left without hesitation.
"Lynwood!"
Catalina dashed forward, throwing her arms around him. "Please... Don't go! Don't leave me behind..."
Lynwood shoved her away, a flash of irritation crossing his eyes.
"Let go!"
Caught off guard, Catalina lost her balance and fell backward onto the floor.
Her forehead slammed hard against the ground.
Lynwood turned around and shot her a cold glance, then walked away and boarded the helicopter without looking back.
Five years—he had been searching for Emelia for five entire years, and now, he finally had a lead!
He clutched the antique black diamond ring in his hand, anticipation burning in his chest.
Meanwhile, Catalina slowly got up from the floor. Rubbing her forehead, she watched the helicopter disappear into the sky, her gaze sharp. The affection and grievance on her face were soon replaced by hatred.
"What a total jerk!" she spat.
She went back inside and signed the divorce agreement without hesitation.
Then she picked up her phone and dialed a number.
"Hello? Who's this?" a man answered.
"It's me."
"What the heck is wrong with you? How am I supposed to know who you are?" the man snapped.
Arching an eyebrow, she said, "Seriously? You don't recognize my voice, Lamar? You've got some balls!"
After a brief silence, Lamar Hubbard suddenly exclaimed, "Lina!"
"Yeah."
Lamar replied in an injured tone, "You've been missing for two years. Not a single call or text. I thought you ran off with some dude!"
Smiling, Catalina said, "I've sent you my location. Come pick me up."
***
Early the next morning.
As soon as Catalina walked out of the villa, a sparkling, diamond-studded Ferrari screeched to a stop in front of her.
"Hi, babe!"
A handsome man with sculpted features, golden hair, and beautiful green eyes jumped out and threw his arms around her.
Catalina shoved him off with a poker face, opened the car door, and got in.
Lamar stomped his foot, pouting. "You're so heartless, Catalina! I came here all the way from Cruvania, and this is how you greet me?"
"Stop that!" Catalina shot a sideways glance at him.
Lamar got in the car as he replied, "Never. My flamboyance is who I am."
Rolling her eyes, Catalina said flatly, "Let's go."
She didn't belong here.
Just like Lynwood didn't belong to her.
She had been a pushover here for two years. Now that she finally had her memory back, it was time for her to find out who had harmed her and made her lose her memory.
Two days later.
Lynwood came back to the villa and locked himself in the bedroom as soon as he went upstairs.
The lead had been false. It wasn't Emelia.
The trip had been a waste.
Disappointment crashed over him like a wave.
Just then, a maid knocked on the door and handed him a divorce agreement.
"Mr. Beasley, Mrs. Beasley has signed it and left. She took nothing with her. Not even the bank card you gave her."
Lynwood frowned, thinking, "She left with nothing?
"She's such a delicate crybaby. And she's got no skills or resources. Without any money, she'll end up living on the streets in days.
"I know what she's doing.
"She wants to play the victim so that I'll feel guilty."
He turned to the maid and said, "Finalize the divorce as soon as possible."
He didn't want any surprises.
Edwin Jenkins, his assistant, walked in right after the maid left. "Mr. Beasley, Mrs. Beasley..."
Lynwood frowned. "She's back?"
He knew it—she wouldn't accept being divorced just like that.
Edwin went on, "No. A media reporter took photos of her entering a hotel with Lamar Hubbard, the youngest son of the Hubbard family, the richest in Cruvania. They stayed overnight."
Lynwood's face darkened.
Catalina knew Lamar?
And they actually spent a night together in a hotel?
Chapter 2 Something Isn't Right
Lynwood slammed his fist on the table, pulling an extremely long face.
He thought, "Damn you, Catalina!
"No wonder you left with nothing. You're involved with someone else!"
He had been in a foul mood, and the news only made him more irritable. He then called Leroy Sherman, his close friend, to go out for a drink.
***
At Euphoria Club in Birchdale.
Looking at the cute young men standing in front of her in a line, Catalina smiled mischievously.
Lamar was upstairs discussing business. Not wanting her to feel bored, he arranged the male escorts for her to kill time with.
"How old are you?" she asked while swirling her wine glass unhurriedly.
"I'm twenty-three."
"I'm twenty-one."
"I'm nineteen."
They answered obediently one by one.
Catalina beamed with satisfaction as her eyes landed on those youthful Adonises.
She thought, "Euphoria Club surely lives up to its reputation as the paradise in Birchdale. Check out the cute guys—both their faces and figures are the best. Each and every one of them is as attractive as that jerk.
"Lynwood divorced me for his unattainable love. Who says I can't go out and have fun with pretty boys?"
Shaking her head to get rid of the faint sadness deep down, she said to the youngest man, "Drink with me. I'll take care of you if you please me."
Hearing this, he immediately poured wine for her and sat next to her. "Here's a toast to you, pretty."
Everyone in this line of work dreamed of having a sugar mommy. Why would anyone say no to a young, charming beauty?
The eye candies all raised their glasses at Catalina, trying their very best to please her.
***
In a private room upstairs.
Lynwood was drinking with Leroy.
After several rounds, Leroy suddenly said, "Lynwood, it's been years. Don't you think it's time to let go?"
Lynwood had searched for Emelia for five years and even put up a 3-billion-dollar bounty on the dark web.
But he still couldn't find her.
Leroy knew very well how influential and connected Lynwood was. It had been years, yet Lynwood still couldn't find a lead about Emelia. Chances were, she was already dead.
But Leroy didn't dare to say that to Lynwood's face.
Without saying anything, Lynwood gulped down the wine, his gaze deep and unfathomable.
Knowing him well, Leroy didn't press on. He changed the subject and asked, "Did Catalina really agree to divorce you?"
Everyone knew Catalina fell for Lynwood at first sight after he saved her two years ago.
Before marrying him, she had been like his shadow, following him everywhere, wanting to marry him.
Later, to get his family off his back, Lynwood married her. She was overjoyed and tried even harder to please him.
She'd do everything for him.
She loved him so much—there was no way she'd agree to marry him that easily.
Something wasn't right.
Lynwood's expression darkened when he recalled the photos of Catalina and Lamar entering the hotel together.
"What the heck?"
Suddenly, Leroy pointed at the hall downstairs, looking puzzled.
"See that woman in a red dress downstairs? Is she ... Catalina?"
Leroy rubbed his eyes again. No way. Catalina wasn't this pretty.
Squinting, Lynwood looked over.
The downstairs hall was bathed in sultry, dim lights. In the most exclusive booth, a dozen youthful, good-looking men surrounded a beautiful woman in a red dress.
Sitting on the sofa, she rested her long legs on the edge of the coffee table, swirling the wine in her glass lazily, as charming and alluring as a regal Persian cat.
One of the men refilled her glass, and she lifted her chin slightly and smiled at him seductively.
She was like a siren in the depths of the sea, luring countless sailors.
As Lynwood's gaze fell upon her, his heart skipped a beat.
It was Catalina.
Chapter 3 Carpe Diem
"Fuck me! It is Catalina!"
Rubbing his eyes hard, Leroy was finally certain it was Catalina and was slack-jawed.
"And she's got so many male escorts with her? Gosh, I never knew she's this greedy."
As Lynwood gazed at Catalina, his gaze darkened.
He thought, "Catalina, after being photographed entering a hotel with Lamar, you come here partying with pretty boys?
"Good for you.
"I really underestimated you before, Catalina!"
***
While enjoying herself being surrounded by those cute young men, Catalina suddenly sensed a gaze on her keenly.
She turned around, only to see someone familiar walking toward her.
Her eyes flickered as she flashed a mocking smile deliberately.
Lynwood walked across the crowd and soon stood in front of her.
"You're here right after signing the divorce papers. Catalina, I had no idea you were this horny."
Catalina was born with striking features and fair skin, but she seldom wore makeup and always dressed plainly, so she looked mediocre.
But today, with her makeup on, she looked stunning, and the red dress accentuated her captivating aura and graceful figure.
She was beautiful, confident, and proud.
One'd find it hard to look away from her.
Leaning against the sofa, she smiled indifferently, "Life is short. Carpe diem, right?"
Lynwood looked down at her, his expression sullen.
Behind him, Leroy whispered, "Maybe Catalina couldn't handle being dumped by you and has lost her mind."
"Mr. Sherman, you're so funny."
Catalina spread her arms, rested them on the shoulders of two male escorts, and smiled even more charmingly.
"Look around—I can be with anyone I want. Hunks with six-packs, eye candies with warm smiles, and even A-plus boyfriend material—I can take my pick. Why would I give them all up because of a jerk?"
Leroy was shocked.
He thought, "What did she call Lynwood? A jerk?
"Is she really the Catalina I know?"
Staring at Catalina with two men in her arms, Lynwood pulled an extremely long face.
She had always been a delicate crybaby in the past. But now, she seemed like an entirely different person.
"What is it? Mr. Beasley, do you think I'm wrong?"
Meeting his gaze, Catalina smiled provocatively, not flinching at all.
She had to admit that, though there were so many cute guys present, Lynwood still stood out the most. His cheekbones appeared chiseled into shape by a master craftsman, and the lineaments of his face were in perfect proportion to each other.
His black custom suit complemented his burly physique, accentuating his icy restraint and untouchable aura.
Right now, he was staring at her without blinking, and she instinctively sensed danger.
Just then, a drunk, paunchy man walked over.
"Pretty, they're so weak. Can they really protect you when there's danger? Come to me. I'll be so nice to you."
With that, he pushed a man sitting next to Catalina away.
Then he draped his fleshy arm over her shoulders.
Lynwood's expression darkened even more. He pursed his lips into a thin line as a killing intent flashed across his eyes.
"You're so pretty. Give me a kiss, pretty."
Catalina's gaze turned icy.
As the man's disgusting lips came closer to Catalina, Lynwood was about to make a move.
In the next second, Catalina slapped the man hard across the face.
The chubby man cried out in pain.
He fell to the floor and spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with several teeth.
"Bitch! How dare you..."
Without letting him finish, she decisively kicked him in the stomach and sent him flying meters away.
Lynwood's lips parted slightly.
Leroy exclaimed, "I'll be damned!"
Chapter 4 What's So Good About Him?
"Mr. Blair!"
The bodyguards of Abe Blair, the chubby man, all panicked. They lunged at Catalina at once.
Catalina grinned, her eyes lighting up with bloodthirsty thrill.
"You asked for this."
She came forward and fought with them head-on, taking each of them down with one punch neatly and ruthlessly.
Within ten seconds, the few bodyguards all fell to the floor.
Standing in the hall with dim lights, Catalina looked down at them, the red dress she wore without a single crease.
Then she flicked her long hair casually, her smile confident and bold.
"Shit!"
Pointing at her, Leroy was shocked.
"You... Catalina... You're actually this good at fighting?"
He thought, "Is this even possible? She was so meek and harmless before. How come she's a fighter all of a sudden?
"So, all that harmlessness and innocence... That was all just an act?"
Lynwood stared at Catalina, the coldness in his eyes replaced by interest.
As it turned out, his ex-wife wasn't as dull as he had pictured at all.
They were married for two years, and she had always been so meek, doing whatever he told her to do. But here she was, so tough and bold, like a different person after their divorce.
And the way she hit them reminded him of something...
He squinted, his gaze turning scrutinizing.
After dealing with the good-for-nothings, Catalina sat back on the sofa.
Seeing those cute young men standing far away, she crooked a finger, smiling charmingly.
"Why are you so far away from me? Come here. I want a drink."
A few male escorts were about to walk over when they sensed a sharp gaze.
"Piss off!" Lynwood scowled at them.
Utterly terrified, they practically fled away.
Everyone in Birchdale knew Lynwood from the Beasley family for his ruthlessness. Those who had ever crossed him all ended up tragically.
Catalina glanced sideways at Lynwood. "Lynwood, those who ruin others' fun will face their karma."
Clenching his fists tightly, Lynwood was furious; even the veins on his forehead were bulging. "Catalina, the divorce hasn't been finalized yet!"
A 30-day cooling-off period was a must before the final divorce.
In other words, they had to wait for another month.
Catalina sneered, "Lynwood, don't tell me you're having second thoughts about the divorce."
That ship had sailed.
Lynwood scoffed, "Don't flatter yourself. I never will."
She poured herself a glass of wine, glancing at him coldly. "You better mean it."
Staring at Catalina, who looked amazing, Lynwood was puzzled.
He thought, "What went wrong? A few days earlier, she begged me through tears not to divorce her. But now, she's changed so completely."
"What's your relationship with Lamar?" he questioned.
"Why should I tell you? You're just my ex-husband." She arched an eyebrow.
"Ex-husband?"
Just then, Lamar exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief. Pouting, he pointed at Lynwood while standing not far away from them, "Lina, you got married behind my back? To this man, no less? What's so good about him?"
Immediately, Lynwood's expression darkened; even the air around him became oppressive.
What was so good about him?
Catalina shot Lamar a murderous glance, and the latter immediately was terrified and zipped his lips.
Then she turned to Lynwood. "Lynwood, now that we're divorced, you're dead to me. Stop showing up in front of me. Understand?"
"Catalina!"
Enraged, Lynwood even felt the urge to beat someone up.
Not bothering with his reaction, she grabbed her bag and said to Lamar, "Let's continue somewhere else."
Lamar immediately followed her and took her bag for her with a fawning smile. "I know a private club with better-looking male escorts. They're from all over the world..."
Staring at Catalina's retreating figure, Lynwood was seething with rage, his gaze icy.
He thought, "Wait.
"How did Catalina know Lamar? He's from Cruvania.
"And it seems they're pretty close."
Chapter 5 Who's That Loaded?
Two years ago, Catalina had been injured and lost all her memory. During the past two years, she had lived in Lynwood's private villa and had never gone out for a job. It was simply impossible for her to know Lamar, who was from Cruvania.
Lynwood's eyes flickered as he thought of one possibility—Catalina and Lamar had known each other before.
"Leroy, look into Lamar. I wanna know everything about him that's related to Catalina," he said.
After a pause, he added, "And look into her background, too."
Leroy nodded and teased, "Lynwood, it seems you're the one who got dumped."
Lynwood parted his lips, but he had no idea how to respond.
***
By saying continuing somewhere else, Catalina just wanted to piss Lynwood off.
The more furious he got, the better she felt.
After leaving Euphoria Club, she went straight back to the hotel.
On the way, Lamar kept asking her about her relationship with Lynwood.
Deeply bugged, she explained, "He saved my life two years ago, and I married him to repay him. And now, he's found his unattainable love, so we got a divorce."
"He saved your life?" Lamar gawked at her in shock.
She was the one who saved others' lives. Since when did she need anyone to save her?
Catalina replied, "Someone paid an assassin from Infernal Whalesharks to kill me."
Lamar's expression changed.
Infernal Whalesharks was a notorious assassin organization in East Kefria. Its members were all ruthless characters who valued nothing but money, and they always did things without boundaries.
They'd do anything if they were paid enough.
As Catalina recalled the near-fatal encounter in the jungle two years back, her eyes darkened.
Who hired the assassin from Infernal Whalesharks to kill her?
"Do you know who was behind it?" Lamar asked.
She shook her head.
She had just regained her memories a few days ago and hadn't had time to look into it.
"Give me a couple of days. I'll do some digging," Lamar offered seriously.
She nodded.
Just then, he thought of something. "Just so you know, you've got a 3-billion-dollar bounty for you on the dark web."
She arched an eyebrow. 3 billion dollars?
Who was that loaded?
"Do they want me killed?" she asked.
Lamar shook his head. "I don't think so."
Given the high bounty, his guess was that the poster wanted her help.
Catalina shrugged. Her name was all over the dark web, but no one had ever dared to be the bounty hunter.
After going back to the hotel room, she washed up and then was about to go to bed. Just then, she remembered something important.
Lynwood still had her jade pendant!
When she was married to Lynwood two years ago, she had given it to him as a wedding gift.
Back then, she hadn't known how important it was. Now that she had her memories back, she regretted it so much.
How could she give it to someone else? It was of vital importance!
Without it, she might encounter a lot of barriers from now on.
She must get it back.
***
The next day.
Leroy came to the Beasley Group to see Lynwood early in the morning.
He said, "This is all I could find about Catalina."
Lynwood flipped open the document Leroy handed, only to see a few lines. "That's all?"
Leroy shrugged, looking helpless. "Someone must have buried her records. I can only find out her most basic information."
Catalina's records had been buried?
Lynwood frowned; this was totally surprising.
No one would go through that much for an ordinary person.
He stared at the document, his eyes darkened.
Just then, Edwin knocked on the door and entered.
"Mr. Beasley, Ms. Rowland is..."
Before he could finish, someone from behind him grabbed him by the collar and yanked him away.
In the next second, Catalina walked inside in her high heels, looking high and mighty.
Chapter 6 Not in a Million Years
As Lynwood watched Catalina walk in, a faint trace of amazement flashed across his eyes.
She wore a black waist-tightening long dress with a high slit today, and her long, slender legs were faintly visible as she walked. Her long curls scattered over her shoulders, and her exquisite makeup added a touch of allure and laziness to her pretty face.
"Catalina?"
Looking at Catalina, Leroy couldn't help but recall the scene from last night where she threw those men onto the floor in Euphoria Club. He subconsciously took a step back.
Ignoring him, Catalina walked straight to Lynwood. "Give me my jade pendant back."
Staring at Catalina, who was nothing like before, Lynwood frowned. "What are you talking about?"
Catalina sneered, not surprised by his reaction at all.
When she had given him the jade pendant, he tossed it onto the table without glancing at it.
"I gave you a jade pendant when we got married," she said coldly.
Recalling carefully, Lynwood faintly remembered such a thing.
When he had saved her two years ago, she wore that jade pendant on her necklace. As he remembered, the pendant had her name engraved on it.
Leaning against his chair, Lynwood eyed Catalina, the woman who was both charming and terrifyingly cold.
"You came to me today for that pendant?"
"What do you think?"
Catalina crossed her arms over her chest. "Don't tell me you think I'm here to patch things up with you, Lynwood."
Lynwood stared at her, his expression sullen. "You better not have any illusions."
Catalina pulled a bitter smile inwardly. "I won't."
She wanted nothing to do with him at all.
He wanted her to beg him to come back to her? Not in a million years.
Not wanting to waste another second on him, she extended her hand and said, "Give me back my jade pendant."
Lynwood glanced at her indifferently. "I tossed it away a long time ago."
She froze. "What did you say?"
He tossed her jade pendant away?
Picking up a cup of coffee, Lynwood took a sip and said expressionlessly, "Just because you sent it to me doesn't mean I had to take it."
Catalina banged the desk, her face livid. "Lynwood, where did you throw it?"
He was still deadpan. "I can't remember."
Clenching her fists, she glared at him intently, even wanting to kill him.
Keenly noticing the killing intent flashing across her eyes, he was even more intrigued.
They had been married for two years, and it was the first time she had flown into a rage.
They stared at each other in silence for a while, and then she suddenly smiled.
"Lynwood, you have ten days. If you still can't find my pendant, I'll withdraw the divorce application."
During the cooling-off period, either party could cancel the divorce application at any time.
Lynwood was stunned before pulling a long face.
He knew it. She'd never agree to a divorce that easily.
Jade pendant? It was just an excuse she used.
How scheming!
Crossing her arms over her chest, Catalina smiled even more brightly, "As long as I refuse to divorce you, your beloved will remain a homewrecker that everyone despises."
Emelia meant the world to him; he'd never let that happen to her.
Staring at Catalina coldly, Lynwood stood up and walked toward her.
Looking at him in a sharp suit, she was greatly overwhelmed.
"Catalina, mark my words. We are getting a divorce."
She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and smiled coldly, "Then get back my jade pendant as soon as you can.
"If you can't get it back, I'll make sure the entire Beasley Group pays for it.
"Lynwood, this is your only chance."
With that, she shot him a warning glance before decisively turning around and walking out.
Stepping out of his office, she saw a woman with fancy clothes and heavy makeup walk in her direction.
"Catalina?"
Lindsay Bennett was stunned when she saw Catalina walk out of Lynwood's office.
Then she pointed at Catalina, fuming, "What are you doing here?"
Arching an eyebrow, Catalina looked at Lindsay, the daughter of the Bennett family, one of Lynwood's admirers.
Lindsay had always come to her home and made things hard for her after her marriage to Lynwood.
"Mind your own business," she snapped.
In the past, she had reined in her temper and tried to be Lynwood's obedient wife just so that he could like her a little bit more.
So, she had always endured it or avoided it whenever Lindsay picked on her.
But not anymore.
